The true lifeblood of the Chamber is the work completed in the committees. Chamber committees plan, organize, and promote special events and help shape the climate of the business community as well as the lifestyle of the entire area.

Ambassador Committee

The purpose of this committee is to enhance the economic climate in the Tri-C area by assisting new businesses and existing businesses by creating opportunities for member development and/or retention and new business development, thereby creating new jobs. This committee also assists in coordinating the BITE OF REALITY event– Life’s reality and budgeting experiences for CHS juniors and seniors which is an annual event we partner with SIU Credit Union to provide. It is usually held in March or April.  The Ambassador Committee meets at 8:00 am, the first Thursday of each month, via ZOOM 

Social Media Sub-Committee

This sub-committee of the Ambassador Committee serves as the administrator of Chamber accounts on multiple social media resourcesIt coordinates and maintains social media posts relative to the Chamber and its business membersSocial medial accounts include Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. The Social Media Committee meets at 8:00 am, in combination with the Ambassador Committee, the first Thursday of each month via ZOOM 

Operations Committee

The purpose of this committee is to oversee the everyday operation of the Chamber, to raise community awareness through informative and relative programs and events and to develop continuity of leadership through membership projects such as Chamber Retreats, the Chamber Annual Meeting and General Membership MeetingsThis committee meets at 8:00 am, on the 2nd Thursday of each month at Crab Orchard Golf Club, and via Zoom. 

Annual Dinner Sub-Committee

This committee plans the Annual Chamber Dinner to be held normally on the 2nd Friday of February or on a date otherwise determined by the committee. 

Chamber/Rotary Golf Scramble Sub-Committee

This committee coordinates the joint fundraiser for the Chamber and the Rotary Club of the Carterville area to be held at Crab Orchard Golf Club, the second Friday of May.  

Twilight 5K Run/Walk Sub-Committee

This community event is designed to be a family fun event as well as a popular 5k race for avid runnersIt is prefaced by the Malones Early Learning Center’s Fun Run to further enhance the family friendly atmosphere. It is also an opportunity to highlight the local business sponsors in the Carterville area and the region, and it is a fundraiser for the Carterville Chamber to aid in continuing support of our local businesses. The Twilight 5k is held on the 2nd Friday in September and often kicks off the Carterville Lions Club Free Fair weekend.  

Downtown Pumpkin Path Sub-Committee

The Chamber coordinates the free Chamber sponsored safe Halloween Community Trick or Treat even held in downtown Carterville on Halloween night, or the Friday before, if it falls on a Sunday. 

Other Events

Pin Oak Drive Clean Up

The Chamber members are invited to gather trash along this roadway several times per year so that visitors to the SIH Cancer Center have a clean travel route. 

Retreat

The Chamber coordinates a retreat when deemed appropriate and it is spearheaded by the Ambassador committeeInformative speakers are selected to participate in a relaxed, out of the ordinary environment to encourage expression of new ideas and goalsThe retreat is open to Chamber members, city officials and various groups/organizations/individuals who might benefit from or be of benefit to the success of the event.

Monthly Luncheon

First Wednesday of every month, except February, or whatever month we have the annual dinner or similar event.  Held at Noon at the Carterville Community Center.

Quarterly Networking Events and/or Training Opportunities

Our goal is to try to hold 2-3 networking events at different locations with engaging speakers presenting. 

End of Year Holiday Gatherings

As timing is conducive, we schedule a holiday gathering for Chamber members at one of our member food service locations.
