Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, established in 1974 is a Roman Catholic Parish located in Carterville under the Diocese of Belleville. Holy Spirit strives to continue the mission and ministry of Christ’s church by proclaiming the word of God, celebrating the liturgy, serving the people, and building the community. Holy Spirit is home to the Knights of Columbus Council #10453, and has 2 certified parish nurses that provide care for parishioners. Holy Spirit offers programs such as Parish School Religion, Women’s Group, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, Scripture Study, Faith Formation and Spiritual Book Club. Along with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Herrin, Holy Spirit offers a youth religion program. Holy Spirit supports the Lighthouse Shelter in Marion, the Carterville Food Pantry, GUMDROPS and other charitable causes throughout the year. Sunday Mass is at 9:00am every Sunday and there are other holy days as announced. Holy Spirit is proud to be part of the wonderful community of Carterville.

The Welcoming Committee is hosting a “Spring Get Out” for anyone over the age of 55. It’s a chance for Carterville seniors to come together after a long hard winter, to play games, enjoy refreshments, and win prizes. It will be held May 9, 2019 from 1 – 3:00 p.m. in the Church Hall.
