The Chamber Business Spotlight of the Week for Monday, December 2, 2019 is Aisin Manufacturing Illinois.
Aisin Mfg. Illinois, which came to Southern Illinois in 2001, manufactures automotive components including sunroofs, center pillars, door handles and components, and grill shutters to some of the most demanding customers in the automotive industry including Toyota, Lexus, Subaru, and General Motors. Approximately 50,000 parts are manufactured and shipped from AMI’s 330,000 foot facility on Redco Drive in Marion, Illinois, on a daily basis. As one of the largest employers in Williamson County, AMI employees approximately 1,300 people from several different counties in Southern Illinois. These jobs in addition to manufacturing, include logistics, engineering, quality, and administrative positions.
AMI strives to be a good corporate citizen. Recycling is important and AMI is proud to be 0 landfill since 2009. AMI also partners with SIU to provide intern opportunities with the College of Engineering. AMI also encourages their team members to volunteer in order to make a difference in their communities. In November, a food drive was held to benefit the food pantry at the VA Medical Center in Marion. 3924 cans of food were collected and delivered to the VA. AMI also cooks and serves meals at the Lighthouse Homeless Shelter in Marion four times a year. In addition to these organizations, donations are given throughout the year to local schools, scout troops, sports teams, and civic groups.
